The Injection of Color

Dear Dress Lovers,

This morning I pulled out a recently thrifted dress, determined to wear it, longing for the flowery, flouncy look that this dress has.

At first I put a cream-white color with it, in both under-T and tights, but somehow I was not pleased.

"BLAH!" I gasped, when I looked at the photos.

(not that I don't love this flouncy net petticoat made into the dress, no matter the color!)

I trudged in and started looking for color!

"Blue, blue, blue," I said to myself.

Aha!! I like it!

The colors of the tights and the shirt looked to be very similar in the house, but then outside they were not exactly the same.   Nevertheless, I love the injection of color here, and I think they work!  I think the blue shirt and tights bring out the floral print and also the dark trim around the petticoat.

Dress:  B. Darlin, thrifted
Blue shirt:  Emma James, gift
Cream shirt:  J. Jill, thrifted
Tights:  TJ Maxx, new
Boots:  Evenin Star, thrifted
Brooch:  Handmade by yours truly

Which version do YOU like best?  (the blue version actually got a "you look cute" from a teenage girl at my son's high school, and that is probably saying a lot)

  1. Lovely dress, it looks a bit like Toile de Jouy, that I like so much. Your petticoat with the black hem is perfect for this dress. Bur maybe there's a third variation: How about wearing a black T-shirt underneath. Or do you think that's too boring?

  4. I think the cream looks more Springtimey and the blue looks more autumnal Lynn, and black would be good to see too. Thank you for your lovely comment on my post, it was so encouraging and I love your artwork so much, that it was really nice to hear you liked mine too. xx

  5. Wonderful dress, my dear Dylan.
    Have a lovely weekend.
Ps: your blog is very slow doading, it could be because you have too many posts in the first page. If you just leave 4 posts it will load faster.

  6. Well, my 3-year old was sitting with me as I was reading this and she didn't say anything until I scrolled to the picture with the blue, at which time she basically shouted, "Oh, BEAAAUUUTIFUL!" :)

  12. So pretty with the blue! But if I might suggest red. Red and toile is fantastic together, and the red sundress you showed a photo of recently looks so good on you.

  13. I like both, loads of things would work with it though and knowing me I'd probably go for black!
