Looking Back at 2012 -- Part III (Winter Garden)

Dear Dress Lovers,

Why not have a part III?

It is so encouraging to me to look back and be able to clearly identify things that made me happy and things that made me sad.  I think that's the good part of looking back.  It's using what will make us better in the future!

I loved trying new, retro-inspired hairstyles in 2012.

I discovered that I love the color brown.  (But I told you that recently, didn't I?)  I bought several brown dresses in 2012.

I spent lots of time walking my beagle, Annie, around our apartment complex.

I began a trousseau of sorts as this was the month that I received a claddagh ring from my sweetheart and began to make plans to marry, honeymoon, and move.

I will never forgot the day this was given to me!  (Men do still get on one knee, just in case you were wondering.)

Now.  About today.  It is very cold here with a mixture of ice and sleet falling.  The good thing about working at home is that I don't have to go anywhere, so I can dress any way I want to and still have a job.  On the flip side of that, I have learned that I feel better about myself if I get dressed (for real) each morning.  Yeah, it's a  privilege to be able to work in my PJs if I want to, but I don't do it.

The cold weather outside calls for something warm to put on when I go out to walk Annie and feed the birds.  Also, I work next to a window, and even though it's closed, I can feel the frigid air pawing at me from behind the panes.  I love having a sweater tied around my waist, that I can don and doff easily.  I suppose I have worn these boots to death, but they still look new and I am still in love with them.  They look good but they work hard too.  My little songbirds are glad.  How about a picture for you from the feeders this morning.

Dress:  Hearts, thrifted

Here's lookin' at YOU!

  1. Oh wow Dylan, that last photo was really a surprise. How gorgeous they both are!

Sweet story about your man getting down on one knee. I like his choice for your ring too. Something totally different from what many people have.
Love your fresh photo with the boots and black scarf. You have such a sweet vintage look to you.

  2. Love your retro hairstyle and the brown polka dot dress. The white dress with roses is wonderful too. I've never heard of claddagh rings so I looked it up in Wikipedia. OMG what a lovely legend's behind this ring. Wish you the best!

  9. You are so good at doing beautiful hair styles Lynn, and I love your pink and white outfit so much, the pink flowery pattern reminds me of a long party dress I had when I was young and I loved wearing it. My engagement ring from Pat was the ring pull off a beer can! We were on the banks of Loch Ness though, so it was still a romantic proposal, though I don't think he'd really thought about it beforehand! Your lovely squirrel and birdie pic reminds me, I've been trying to add your blog 'A Mother's Journal' here on Blogger, but I can't find the link, I have it on Blog Lovin' but it's hard for me to comment on my phone and I can't see the photos so well on it which is sad when they're so pretty! Is there any way for me to add it here, or maybe you prefer to keep it separate? xx

    1. Hey there! I am not sure how to help you with adding the link. Usually in blogger I just click on add and put the URL in. http://www.amothersjournal.com I am so slow in some areas, I am not sure if that is what you mean! Anyway. I am heading over to your blog and will see if you got it added! That's sweet about the pull tab for a ring!! And so romantic to be at Loch Ness! Wow!

      xoxo
